The treacherous conditions hampered the home teams defence, despite their strenuous efforts. The Rams made several impressive breaks down the flank, each time denied a try by Ribb's uncompromising defence. Elcock scored 2 fine tries for the visitors, opening the scoring with his first. The score was no reflection of the effort from the team, who were unlucky not to finish with a much closer score.

Secondly a great ball moving try – the Tups winning a scrum in their own half, the ball being well channelled and distributed out to the half backs, 3 great passes followed by a great running try in space for Thomas Darwin – team try of the game!

The Rams held a powerful Ripon side to just one try before half time with some determined tackling by Archie Elsworth and Alex Booth. The Ripon line remained unbreached despite some powerful running by Michael Robinson and Henry Ellison. Arthur Peel also broke through following an outrageous dummy, only to be hauled down just short of the line.
Game 3 Ripon 0 Wharfedale Tups 15
Another terrific defensive display by the Tups meant that no tries were scored against them in either game. 13/11/11 WHARFEDALE VS. OLD BRODLEIANS
Wharfedale Tups 4 Old Brodleians 3
Fresh from their defeat against Old Brods last weekend Wharfedale Tups were keen to take the rematch and didn't disappoint in a tough, well matched physical game. Although Wharfedale made a positive start Old Brods quickly broke through to take the first try. Undeterred Thomas Darwin immediately levelled it for the greens with a storming weaving run right through the Old Brods defence. Great tackling from Billy Richardson, and Arthur Peel took the game back into the Old Brods half on the restart and a fantastic team tackling display lead by the relentless Alex Bowler kept a determined and well organised Old Brods side at bay. Thomas Darwin eventually broke through to take the greens into the lead at half time. The second half saw Beau Verity take the ball over the line again for Wharfedale after ripping the ball from the opposition on numerous occasions. Old Brods managed to pull back two tries but a fine run from Charles Booth set up Alex Booth for the final try of the match for Wharfedale and a well deserved win.
Wharfedale Rams 1 Old Brodleians 6
Old Brods were hungry to make up for their first match loss and were on the score sheet straight away. Micheal Bannier made good ground for Wharfedale to allow Phil Sabin to score Wharfedale's only try of the match. Despite good pressure from Wharfedale with try saving tackles from Harvey Lewis plus Henry Ellison making good ground for the greens, Old Brods turned the tables and scored again. Wharfedale kept their heads up in the second half with Phil Sabin, Henry Ellison and Archie Ellsworth all keeping the pressure up but Old Brods just kept breaking through the Wharfedale defence to finish with a score line that just didn't do justice to Wharfedale's determined performance.
06/11/11 WEST YORKSHIRE FESTIVAL
Match 1 Wharfedale Rams 1 Huddersfield 0

Back came Salem who looked odds on to score and win but they faced the demon tackler Harvey Lewis who made a try saving tackle.
Match 3 Wharfedale Rams 3 Ilkley 2
Straight into the 3 rd game and the Greens were up against a strong, well drilled Ilkley team. This didn't faze the Rams as Archie Elsworth made the hard yards and passed onto Henry Ellison who powered over for the opening score. Ilkley quickly levelled but then the marauding Michael Robinson went over twice in succession. Again back came Ilkley to make it 3-2 who then went looking for the equaliser but thanks to the dogged defensive work with Toby Webster, Sam McCarten and Imogen Clarke getting stuck in the Greens ran out winners 3-2. Another great game.
Match 4 Wharfedale Rams 0 Old Brodleians 6
The Greens worked really hard here up against the finalists Old Brods. Arthur Peel continued with his strong running and offloading and Phil Sabin kept driving forward as they had both done all morning. The powerful rucking and mauling of Old Brods kept their tries coming but well done to all, notably Harry Gaskell, for keeping at it and trying to play open rugby.

3/4/11 Harrogate vs. wharfedale
Even though it was Mothers Day a large squad of Wharfedale players enjoyed there trip to the gate. The Harrogate U8's also having enough players to allow two games to be played at the same time.
Game 1 Wharfedale 9 Harrogate 3
With the playing conditions being more akin to the desert than the dales, the young green starlets were soon into there stride in this convincing win, following on from last week with a great defensive effort, leaving very little time or space for Harrogate to run.
New arrival from overseas Thomas Howson was quickly involved, displaying wonderful running for the first of his two tries, he obviously felt at home in the dry and dusty surroundings. Henry Ellison, released from lambing duties for the morning scored from long range, quickly followed by Sam McCartan who has been a revelation this last few weeks, seizing on a loose pass, he outstripped the Harrogate defence to score a cracking try. Arthur Peel, as ever, working hard in attack and defence, was again in support for the final pass to score.
Thomas Darwin scored another first rate brace of tries, to add to his already mighty total for the season, as did the elusive ,evasive, effervescent Jay Cafferkey who was on fire this week with his speedy side-stepping running.
Game 2 Harrogate 8 Wharfedale 8
It was honours even at the final whistle, after the lead had changed hands several times in this exciting game played by two superb teams.
Arthur Peel scored the first try following his good change of direction and pace. The ever alert Jay Cafferkey got the next try, and it was his excellent, long pass before being tagged that created the space for Arthur Peel to score his second, this is what we are trying to achieve by moving the ball into space. Thomas Darwin again bamboozled the Harrogate defence with his darting runs to score two more tries, as did the hard working Louis Elcock who also scored two cracking tries.
Charles Booth rounded off proceedings with a length of the field run to tie the game.

Game 1 Bradford & Bingley 4 Wharfedale 5

Following a shuffle of all the players, the Wharfedale side were soon into there stride scoring some sublime tries. Alex Bowdler was back on form to score two tries, as did the tremendous Thomas Darwin. Arthur Peel supported well to score a good try and sold an outrageous dummy to set Jay Cafferkey on his way to the line for the first of his two excellent tries. Oliver Sorton Hall was, as always, everywhere in both defence and attack and was rewarded for his efforts with some impressive scores. A grand all round display from the young dales players on there first trip to Otley.
Match 3 - Otley 9 Wharfedale 5
Both sides contributed to a fine game with some excellent handling belying the greasy conditions. Otley got off to a fast start exploiting the full width of the pitch to go into a 3-0 lead, but the young greens stuck to the task manfully and showed great spirit in fighting back. Thomas Darwin opened Wharfedale's account and some excellent defensive work by Jay Cafferkey forced a turnover to allow Alex Bowlder to score two tries in quick succession just before half time. With the game in the balance at the turnaround a swarming Otley defence withstood everything Wharfedale could throw at them early in the second period and despite huge defensive efforts from Arthur Peel and Oliver Sorton-Hall their lead was extended. Thomas Darwin's mazy running finally broke the Otley resistance and a fine long pass from Finlay Brown in the last minute, following good support play by Louis Elcock, allowed Thomas to complete his hat-trick squeezing over in the corner on the final play. The final whistle brought to an end a thoroughly enjoyable contest in which all the boys showed great determination and team spirit.
Match 4 - Otley 6 Wharfedale 1
A solid defensive line from Otley led to a scoreline which did not reflect the gritty performance of the young green team in the second match. The whole team contributed to a great defensive effort and despite being unable to break the Otley line in the first half, Wharfedale's second-half performance improved from the whistle. Charles Booth's storming try from the off gave the crowd hope of a comeback. A sustained attack from Jacob Gregson and Henry Ellison caused problems for Otley, while Finlay Brown darted between opponents. A good passing move led to a superb run from Harvey Lewis, who was unlucky not to score. The team covered the entire ground trying to outflank the Otley defence, with Michael Bannier picking out players and passing well. Louis Elcock's determined spirit and play kept hopes alive for more points, and typified the teams overall performance.
