HoMe vs. skipton 27th april 2008
2 games were played in much milder though wet conditions.
The first 8-a-side game saw the home side race to an impressive 11-5 victory, with some fantastic tries from well within their own territory. Skipton fought back well, but handing errors close to the Wharfedale line cost them dearly with the home team regaining possession and on nearly every occasion covering the length of the pitch to score.
The second 8-a-side game was a belter. Skipton settled well after the first game and soon took an early 3 tries to 1 lead. Wharfedale were always chasing this one, and the home team had great difficulty in tagging the Skipton team resulting in the visitors regularly making significant gains into the Wharfedale half. Good support play led to a couple of excellent tries by both sides but Skipton held their concentration and early advantage to subsequently win the game 8-7.
Two great games with plenty of determination and effort from both teams. A real testament for Under 7s rugby.
aWAY Vs. Ilkley 6th april 2008
2 games were played in cold but good conditions.
The first game saw Wharfedale winning 9-4 with some good rugby from both sides and a cracking full length of the pitch try by the young lady in the Wharfedale team.
The second game was played on a half sized pitch at 10-a-side and again Wharfedale came out on top winning 10-5. Considering the cold there was some good handling by both sides, some good defensive stints and a few excellent long range tries by the usual Wharfedale suspects and a few by Ilkley
Well done to both teams and hope all your hands have warmed up.
